Beyond Barcelona’s celebration of the Spanish league title, their 2-0 victory over Real Madrid this Sunday at the Camp Nou also brought joy to Brazilian fans. After recovering from a muscle injury suffered on March 26 during Brazil’s friendly against France, forward Raphinha made his return for Barça, coming on as a substitute in the second half.
Still in need of match fitness, Raphinha had few attacking opportunities. His best chance came when he received the ball inside the area and attempted a right-footed shot, but the effort lacked power and was easily saved by Real’s goalkeeper. While his performance was modest, his return is a positive sign as he prepares for the upcoming World Cup. Ancelotti believes that both Vinícius Jr. and Raphinha will perform at a high level during the tournament.
