The Golden State Warriors have officially announced a two-year contract extension for head coach Steve Kerr, keeping him at the helm through the 2027-2028 season.
Kerr has spent all 12 of his NBA coaching seasons with the Warriors, compiling a franchise-best record of 604 wins and 353 losses, a win percentage of 63.1%. Under his leadership, the team captured four NBA championships (2015, 2017, 2018, and 2022) and made six Finals appearances (2015 through 2019, and 2022).
General manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. praised Kerr’s impact: “We are thrilled that Steve will continue to lead the Warriors. His influence on this organization goes far beyond titles and incredible on-court achievements. The character and leadership he demonstrates every day set the tone for what we want this team to represent, both now and in the future.”
Kerr expressed his gratitude in a statement: “I’m thankful for the opportunity to keep coaching this team. These past 12 years, this organization has meant so much to me—from the front office to the players, staff, and fans. Being part of such a special group is an honor, and I look forward to leading this team on the court.”
The Warriors finished the 2025-26 regular season with a 37-45 record, earning the 10th seed in the Western Conference. They lost to the Phoenix Suns in the play-in tournament, marking the second time in three years that Golden State failed to reach the playoffs.
