Paris Saint-Germain Reportedly Preparing Controversial Tactics for Champions League Final Against Arsenal

Paris Saint-Germain are intensifying preparations for the Champions League final, with the French club focusing heavily on set-piece drills. They are set to face Arsenal on May 30 in Budapest, but Luis Enrique’s side still have domestic matters to address before that showdown.

PSG have not yet secured the Ligue 1 title, leading Lens by six points with two matches remaining. They face their closest rivals midweek before taking on neighbors Paris FC on the final day. However, much of their attention appears to be on the Gunners.

Training footage reveals the Parisian outfit working on defending set pieces, a known strength of Arsenal under Mikel Arteta. French outlet RMC Sport shared clips of goalkeepers Matvey Safonov and Lucas Chevalier practicing against corner kicks and free kicks.

Arsenal have become one of the Premier League’s most effective teams from dead-ball situations during Arteta’s tenure, though they recently faced criticism after a controversial goal against West Ham United was disallowed for a foul on David Raya.

Luis Enrique has already shifted his focus entirely toward the final. The Spanish coach skipped the UNFP awards ceremony this week, explaining: “I never attend these events. I prefer to stay home and study Arsenal. I’m happy to see PSG players recognized, they deserve it. Those who win trophies earn them. Congratulations to Pierre Sage for winning Coach of the Year. What he has done at Lens this season is incredible.”

Regarding his team’s run-in, Enrique added: “We must manage the final two games well. The problem is the match against Lens comes just three days after the Brest game, which is very tight. We have injured players and others who have featured in consecutive matches. We’ll handle it individually, as we have all season.

“Tomorrow we’ll show what kind of team we are and our ambition. Wearing the PSG shirt is always a responsibility. For me, it’s a celebration in one of the best atmospheres in France. We are motivated for this match—it’s the best preparation for the Champions League final.

“We have another game before the final weekend. We’ll manage the training load, but I’m not worried. When your target is a Champions League final, you’ll be ready even after a month off or a single day’s rest. It won’t be a problem.”
