American middleweight (up to 84 kg) fighter Joe Paifer has spoken out about the possibility of the organization not making him the main event of UFC 330, scheduled for August 15 in Philadelphia.
“It infuriates me. I should be the main event of the tournament in Philadelphia. If I’m not in the main fight, I’m not interested at all. We have tons of fighters from Philadelphia, and you might put a Russian and an Irishman in the main fight. It makes no sense to me,” Paifer said, as quoted by journalist Ariel Helwani on his X social media page.
Insiders previously reported that the main event of UFC 330 could be a fight between 34-year-old UFC welterweight champion Islam Makhachev and Ireland’s Ian Garry, who is ranked No. 2 in the under-77 kg division.
