AC Milan will enter a period of closed-door training starting Thursday as the team intensifies preparations for their upcoming match against Genoa, according to club correspondent Antonio Vitiello. The squad is scheduled to hold two training sessions on Wednesday.

The decision for the training retreat was made on Tuesday by head coach Massimiliano Allegri and club management, amid growing concerns over the team’s recent form and their precarious position in the race for Champions League qualification.

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, the retreat follows a disappointing home defeat to Atalanta and will last several days. This marks the first time the club has implemented such a measure since May 2019, when then-coach Gennaro Gattuso ordered a similar camp at Milanello. Historically, Milan has not been a club accustomed to resorting to training retreats, but the current situation demands urgent action.

The retreat will begin on Thursday and continue through the weekend, with the exact end date dependent on the scheduling of the away fixture against Genoa. The match could be played either Sunday at 12:30 PM or Monday at 6:00 PM, as all teams competing for Champions League spots must kick off simultaneously.

According to the weekly schedule, players must report to Milanello by 1:00 PM on Thursday (lunch is optional), gather in the dressing room at 2:30 PM, and step onto the training pitch at 3:30 PM for the first session.

In addition, Sky Italia reporter Peppe Di Stefano noted that club executives Giorgio Furlani and sporting director Marco Tare were present to oversee Wednesday’s training session at Milanello. Furlani arrived at the training center earlier, joining Tare to monitor the team’s preparations for the Genoa match.
